My fascination for Africa dates back to my childhood, when a string of my mother's language students from all over the world were regular visitors to the house, bringing gifts from their own countries.

My dream of experiencing Africa for myself finally came true when my husband and I visited his birthplace, Kenya.

Although my training was in architecture, clay has taken me over and become a passion. Sometimes ideas come fully formed into my head, sometimes I work directly in clay. At the moment most of my work is handbuilt; I enjoy the slower, more thoughtful pace of the process as opposed to throwing
I am inspired by organic forms and in my work I try to emphasise the contrasts between the natural world and man-made elements.
